Real Headlight Restoration Before and After
These original photos show the same customer headlight before and after restoration performed by MNV Auto Detailing. The exterior lens had visible yellowing, haze and oxidation before condition-appropriate correction and polishing.
Results depend on the condition and construction of each headlight. Exterior oxidation can often be improved substantially, while cracks, internal haze, moisture, failed seals and damaged internal components are not corrected by exterior restoration.
What Headlight Restoration Can—and Cannot—Repair
Headlight restoration is intended for deterioration on the outside of a polycarbonate lens. We inspect the lens first because surface oxidation can often be refinished, while internal or structural damage requires a different repair.
Usually Suitable for Restoration
- Yellow or cloudy exterior lens surfaces
- UV oxidation and a chalky outer layer
- Light exterior scratches and dullness
- Reduced clarity caused by surface deterioration
May Require Repair or Replacement
- Cracked, broken or deeply damaged lenses
- Condensation or contamination inside the housing
- Failed bulbs, wiring, ballasts or LED modules
- Damaged reflectors or internal optical components
Restoration can improve clarity and appearance when the deterioration is on the exterior surface. It does not guarantee a specific light-output increase, repair electrical faults or make a damaged headlamp assembly equivalent to a new replacement.
Our Headlight Restoration Process
The exact abrasive steps depend on the lens condition. We use only the correction required to remove the deteriorated exterior layer and refine the finish safely.
Inspect
We check whether the haze is external, note cracks or internal moisture and confirm whether restoration is appropriate.
Prepare
The lenses and surrounding areas are cleaned and protected before oxidation removal begins.
Refinish
When required, controlled sanding is followed by compounding and polishing to restore surface clarity.
Protect
Optional ceramic coating protection can be added for $100 when the refinished lens condition is suitable.

Headlight Restoration Toronto FAQs
Answers about pricing, appointment time, durability and the types of damage restoration can address.
How much does headlight restoration cost?
The polish-only package starts at $99 CAD. The sanding and polishing package starts at $200 CAD. Ceramic coating can be added for $100. Lens size and condition affect the final estimate.
How long does the appointment take?
Most restorations take approximately one to two hours. Heavier oxidation or more extensive refinishing can require additional time.
How long will restored headlights remain clear?
Durability depends on the original lens condition, UV exposure, vehicle storage, washing habits and maintenance. The optional $100 ceramic coating add-on provides additional exterior-lens protection, but no responsible service should promise permanent results.
Can you remove moisture from inside a headlight?
Exterior restoration does not correct failed seals or internal condensation. The housing must be diagnosed and repaired separately when moisture is inside the assembly.
Will restoration fix weak bulbs or electrical problems?
No. Restoration addresses the exterior plastic lens. Bulbs, LED modules, wiring, ballasts and electrical faults require mechanical or electrical diagnosis.
Can every cloudy headlight be restored?
Most externally oxidized plastic lenses can be improved. Cracks, deep structural damage, internal reflector deterioration and failed optical components may make replacement the appropriate option.
